"Cracking adlibbing….a joke-rich rallying call for a better Britain” THE GUARDIAN

“Potent live performer…..can nail a nonsense with beautiful economy of words” THE TIMES

Worried about your job? Worried about your family? Worried about yourself? Worried about the health service? Education? Climate change? World War 3? Worried about worrying? Sod it! Come and have a laugh about it. It’s one of the things we do best. Or is it? Was it something we did best but like everything else has now gone West. Or South. Or East. Ah - go on. Take a risk. Put on your lucky pants and your party shoes – and get yourself on a night out. Or maybe come out dressed in a binbag, top hat and clogs. We could all use a laugh.

As seen on Mock the Week, Live at the Apollo, Q.I. etc. - and repeated on Dave.

Jesterlarf Comedy Club

Tickets £12 in advance (£14 on the door)

COMEDY Jesterlarf Comedy Club returns to the Burgess Hall with a fantastic line up. Gary Delaney is ranked alongside Milton Jones as one of Britain's Grandmasters of the deadpan one-liner and combined with his razor sharp wit he has more quality jokes in his set than many comics have in their entire career. He's a regular on Mock The Week and 8 Out of 10 Cats.

Geoff Norcott is the master of anecdotal story telling who delivers an eclectic mix of smut, impressions and politics and is a core writer for Sarah Millican’s TV Show and Stand Up For The Week.

Michael Fabbri delivers a dark and honest approach to some of life’s more touchy subjects but manages to effortlessly slip between some harsh, controversial topics to light-hearted silliness, a brilliantly funny act.

Phil Dinsdale (MC) The ex-Steel worker provides a unique blend of cynicism, observation and good old-fashioned playful humour.

timeless classic, ‘We’ll Meet Again’.

Jeremy Hardy LIVE
Friday 28th April •  Doors open 7.30pm / Show starts 8pm  / End 10pm approx.
Tickets £15.40 per ticket (includes £1.40 booking fee)
£5.50 per person for unemployed status (includes 50p booking fee / upon prove of eligibility)

Jeremy Hardy is in his 4th decade as a stand-up this year. That’s a more dramatic way of saying he started 33 years ago and, without a lottery win, probably has at least another 33 years to go. In 2014, the tenth series of Jeremy Hardy Speaks to the Nation was broadcast on Radio 4. He is also well known for his appearances on The News Quiz and I’m Sorry I Haven’t a Clue. Indeed, Alan Bennett recently said he likes him “but he’s only on the radio”.

However, Jeremy isn’t only on the radio, his television credits include: Jack Dee’s Election Helpdesk (BBC2), QI (BBC1), Mock The Week (BBC2), Grumpy Old Men (BBC1), Back In The Day (BBC2), Not Tonight With John Sergeant (BBC2).

He is also on the road all year round and has never stopped doing live shows since 1984. After briefly hibernating in the winter, he's back out on the road in 2016.

“In an ideal world, Jeremy Hardy would be extremely famous, but an ideal world would leave him without most of his best material.” THE GUARDIAN

Eddie 'The Eagle' Edwards- Try Hard
Wednesday 21st June  •  Doors 6.45pm / Show 7.30pm / Approx. End 9.30pm
Tickets £17 per person

Eddie ‘The Eagle’ Edwards is a unique British sporting hero with an incredible story to tell.

The world’s ninth-fastest amateur downhill speed skier went on to become Great Britain’s first Olympic (self-taught!) Ski-Jumper, who missed out on medals by some distance, but won the hearts of the nation with his plucky, positive attitude and down-to-earth persona and emerged as a star of the Calgary ’88 Winter Olympics, returning to Britain as an overnight sporting celebrity.

In Try Hard, Eddie talks through his incredible life-journey; from self-learning ski-jumping and being shunned by the sporting establishment, to the extensive surgery to rebuild his face and body following years of spectacular crashes on the snow as he set out to break world-records in stunt jumping (10 cars & six buses) and speed-skiing (106.8mph); from bankruptcy through trustees’ mismanagement, to gaining a Law degree, and even how he became a most unlikely pop-star in Finland, above all, what will shine through is the steely resilience of a fearless man determined to overcome huge sporting and life hurdles.
